Fig Sugar Body Scrub

Sugar scrup label photoAs you all know by now, I have a plethora of figs in the fall.  We can’t eat them fast enough or give them away enough!  And there is only so much fig jam I can eat, so I experimented with a variety of basic sugar scrubs adding in figs and came up with what I like to think is the perfect recipe!  I won’t give the secret recipe away but it only has three ingredients.  Figs, sugar and vanilla extract.  Yep, that’s it!  It’s the ratios and amounts that make all the difference and turn it into the perfect texture of a sugar scrub that smells amazing.

Why is a fig sugar scrub good for your skin?  Same reason eating figs are good for you!  Figs have a very high and rich nutritional value.  They are very high in fiber, calcium, potassium and manganese.  In fact, did you know that figs have the highest amount of calcium of any fruit?  After realizing how wonderful this fig sugar scrub felt on my skin, I did a bit of research and found out that applying fig juice to your skin can help with acne and blemishes as well as inflammation.  It is also a powerful antioxident to fight free radicals and help with anti-aging! (Here’s an article about this!) (Here is another!)

If you’d like to buy a jar of it, you can purchase one for $5.99 each plus shipping (if you are local to Northern Virginia/DC area, you can pick it up and avoid the shipping cost).  The jars are half pints or 8 oz.  They also make great gifts!  Just tie a ribbon around them and voila, great Valentine’s Day gift, Birthday, Teacher’s Gift, Mother’s Day, Just Saying Thanks day!  The possibilities are endless!  (But you’ll probably want to keep at least one for yourself!)

Enjoy!
